I got a call from my uncle in Vancouver a few minutes ago — my Grandma just passed away earlier this evening. She was almost 100, so you could say she lived a full life. She had fallen ill earlier last week, so it wasn’t unexpected. Apparently she also had a stroke a few days ago too.
Coincidentally, my sister is having her wedding in Santa Barbara this weekend. As soon as I heard that my Grandma had fallen ill, I was worried about how it would affect my sister’s wedding and my trip. Now that everything’s settled and the funeral is set for next week, we don’t have to be in limbo. You may think I’m cold, but I think having closure is better than wondering what’s going to happen during the festivities.
My dad was coming for the wedding anyway, so it saves him another flight from Hong Kong. It’s also cheaper for me to fly from LA instead of Toronto to Vancouver, so it all works out. I was wondering what I was gonna be doing in LA for a whole week anyway — my friends have day jobs.
I’ve always felt that my life was a little charmed. Everything seems to fall into place without me having to do anything.
